Eligibility Criteria For UPSC Specialist Grade III, Scientist ‘B’ Exam 2024
1. Scientist-B (Mechanical):
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess an Engineering in Mechanical Engineering/ Metallurgical Engineering or, a Masters degree in Physics.
- Experience: One/two years of practical experience in the testing/ calibration of engineering materials/ products or precision measurement/ metrology in a recognized Laboratory/ Institute.
- Age Limit: Not exceeding 40 years.
2. Anthropologist:
- Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in Anthropology from a recognized University with more than 50% percent papers in Physical Anthropology or Biological Anthropology in final year examination.
- Experience: Three years of research experience in Anthropology.
- Age Limit: Not exceeding 38 years.
3. Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor (Anaesthesiology):
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess an MBBS or PG Degree (Concern Specialty)
- Experience: At least three years of teaching experience in a recognized teaching institution after obtaining the first Post-graduate degree.
- Age Limit: 40 years for URs/EWS, 43 years for OBCs, 45 years for SCs/STs and 50 years for PwBDs.
4. Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor (CVTS):
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess an MBBS or PG Degree (Concern Specialty)
- Experience: At least three years of teaching experience in a recognized teaching institution after obtaining the first Post-graduate degree.
- Age Limit: 40 years for URs/EWSs and 50 years for PwBDs.
5. Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor (Neonatology):
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess an MBBS or PG Degree (Concern Specialty)
- Experience: At least three years of teaching experience in a recognized teaching institution after obtaining the first Post-graduate degree.
- Age Limit: 40 years for URs/EWSs, 43 years for OBCs, 45 years for SCs/STs and 50 years for PwBDs.
6. Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor (Neurology):
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess an MBBS or PG Degree (Concern Specialty)

7. Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor (Obstetrics & Gynaecology):
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess an MBBS or PG Degree (Concern Specialty)
- Experience: At least three years of teaching experience in a recognized teaching institution after obtaining the first Post-graduate degree.
- Age Limit: 40 years for URs/EWSs, 43 years for OBCs, 45 years for SCs/STs and 50 years for PwBDs.
8. Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor (PMR):
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess an MBBS or PG Degree (Concern Specialty)
- Experience: At least three years of teaching experience in a recognized teaching institution after obtaining the first Post-graduate degree.
- Age Limit: 40 years for URs/EWSs, 43 years for OBCs and 50 years for PwBDs.
9. Assistant Executive Engineer:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess a Degree in Relevant Engg.
- Experience: Two years experience of operating/maintaining/repairing different types of Drilling Rigs or constructing different types of Tube wells or Ground Water Development and Management.
- Age Limit: 35 years for URs/EWSs and 45 years for PwBDs.
10. Scientist ‘B’ (Civil Engineering):
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess a Degree in Civil Engg.
- Experience: Three years experience in Civil Engineering.
- Age Limit: 35 years for URs and 40 years for SCs/STs
11. Scientist ‘B’ (Electronics /Instrumentation):
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess a Degree in (Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering)
- Experience: Applicants should have at least three years experience in Electronics or Instrumentation Research, particularly on the waterside, power control or marine design.
- Age Limit: 35 years for EWSs, 38 years for OBCs. 40 years for SCs and 45 years for PwBDs
12. Assistant Director (Safety):
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess a Degree in Relevant Engg.
- Experience: Having at least three years of research experience.
- Age Limit: 35 years for URs/EWSs and 45 years for PwBDs.
Selection Process:
Candidates will undergo a rigorous selection process comprising:
